New Zealand Student Visa
Students who are planning to study in New Zealand for more than three months must be issued a student visa from Immigration New Zealand before they are allowed to enter the country.
Immigration New Zealand has offices and representative all around the world; if you are unable to find one close to you, visit their website for more information.
Students with a variation of conditions on their visa may work in New Zealand under some conditions. Part time students must be enrolled in study for at least twelve months in order to work part time, while full time students enrolled in a course for at least two years (or at least twelve months if they are studying under the student exchange programme) are allowed to work up to twenty hours during the academic year and full time hours during the school holidays.
Secondary school students who meet these conditions must also have a consent form signed by their parent or guardian.
Students who are enrolled in a course that will culminate in a qualification listed under the New Zealand Skilled Category may work similar hours, regardless of whether their study is full time or part time. Furthermore, part time and full time students may partake in any work experience that is a required part of their course load.
